This largely underground house near Lake Tekapo fits seamlessly into the landscape. It is linked via a tunnel to an aircraft hangar, also underground. Large shutters close in front of the windows to block the light from inside escaping at night, in this internationally renowned “dark sky” area.
Hiding the mechanical services within this house was tricky but the attention to detail in finding a great hidden solution, including placing the outdoor plant indoors, was achieved through close coordination with Dalmans.
As of August 2020, construction is well progressed onsite.
