This project included converting the existing Woolston tannery industrial buildings into a new boutique retail and hospitality complex.
The main building in this complex contains approximately 35 separate tenants spread across a floor area of approximately 4,200 sq.m with common carpark areas.
The client had a tight deadline for this project; a shortage of retail in the area created an opportunity for The Tannery that the client wanted to capitalise on as soon as possible.
Health and safety considerations were a significant factor. Public occupation of the retail space adjacent to construction areas meant that separations had to be maintained. Interim but minimal temporary safety measures were installed to minimise the potential for false alarms while keeping the public and construction team safe, removing cost on temporary measures.
